Thank you all so much for 50 followers! No, I’m not late, Karl, what is that supposed to mean? It’s only been like, what, three weeks?

Forgive my employees. They tend to be…well, annoying to say the very least. Anyway, thank you all again. This is another mythological poem, from another writing prompt, so please tell me what you think! Also, please recommend more writing prompts for more blogs. I’m starved for ideas. My think tank is practically worthless. You know what? I’m firing all of them. Right now.

Annabeth, you’re fired. Zack, you’re fired. No, I do not care about your taxation bills, Layla, you’re fired too.

Pretend you didn’t see that. Enjoy!

Ten years of war,

Ten years of grief,

One man set out for home,

Began the travel of the thief.

Thus, began the Odyssey,

The sail to Ithaca,

A journey for the ages,

Across the route of the northern star.

Deboard on the island

Of the lotus bearers,

Lose three men, tie them to the mast,

Throw off the road the wayfarers.

Reach the land of the one-eyed giant,

Two meet fatality, two meet death

Stab the monster with a stake,

After two more take their final breath.

Let the wind take you away,

To the pigs and their master,

Receive the enchanted flower,

Turn magic upon its caster.

Into the depths we go,

Give ghosts blood and milk to drink,

Learn the path for your future,

Dive into sunset storms, sailing into the sky so pink.

Cross the treacherous sea,

Wax your ears, men,

Listen to the song of the harpies,

But don’t stray to their den.

Pass the narrow crook,

Fear the whirlpool, and the six headed snake,

Lose your men, grab a vine,

Leave destruction in your wake.

Curtains of shadow descended upon him,

Years of unsatisfaction passed him by,

Lady of mist nurtures and cares,

Ocean king you must defy.

Wash up on a welcoming isle,

Kingdom’s daughters find you sleeping,

Receive the help of the ruler,

Homeland you will find bleeding.

Wise shepherd guides you,

Bring news to the faithful wife,

Clear the kingdom of infesters,

Live a healthy, prosperous life.

Thus, ended the Odyssey,

The tale of Greece’s smartest man,

Across the sea, and mountains,

Across the entire land.
